General information about Saint George's Memorial Church
Saint George's Memorial Church is a particularly "intimate" and beautiful Anglican church located in the center of the historic town of Ypres. It commemorates the more than 500,000 Englishmen killed during World War I. Designed by the well-known English architect of many war memorials Reginald Blomfield. The church is full of items that were donated by both private individuals, associations, and so on. A must-see for all visitors to Ypres.

Tip 1: City of Ypres is best known for 2 reasons: its medieval and other historical past (think of the Cloth Halls, Belfry, Yper Museum, Vauban fortifications ...) and memory tourism (In Flanders Fields Museum, the Menin Gate, the Last Post...). In scientific circles, Ypres is also known for its Project- and Observatory AstroLAB IRIS (located in the Provincial Domain De Palingbeek, the enthusiastic group of volunteers receive as many as 10,000 visitors a year). This is one of six public observatories recognized by the Flemish Government. In technical and industrial circles, Ypres is world famous for its loom manufacturer Picanol. This company recently built a new headquarters in Ypres and can also be visited.

The High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo below was created by combining 231 High Resolution (HR) photos of about 30 MB each through specialized software. In total, more than 7 GB of photo material was used to arrive at this 1 Gigapixel final result to come. Camera used was a Canon EOS-5D Mark IV with one of Canon's sharpest EF lenses: the EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM. One billion image points of viewing pleasure.
