The "Essex farmstead" cemetery is located in the John McCrae Memorial Site. This site was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in September 2023. It is visited by very many tourists as part of memorial tourism, mainly because of its link with John McCrae, the Canadian doctor who wrote the poignant poem "In Flanders Fields..."wrote.
