General information about Molen Ter Hengst - 200-year-old lime tree
There are hundreds of mills in Flanders. Some of them have been restored and sometimes even made millable again. An example is the Steenakkermolen (in Sint-Juliaan near Ypres). Giving an overview of all these mills is impossible. We gladly refer to the Belgian Mill File. Molen Ter Hengst gets a special mention from us because they are firmly committed to "experience".
With many mills you can be happy to visit them in working order, but at Molen Ter Hengst you can choose from a whole range of extra activities such as listening to stories about mills, making bread (they have a wood-burning oven in a separate building), singing mill songs, and so much more. Original and therefore a separate mention at top.vlaanderen . Bernadette Dingenen is, since November 2017, the master miller on duty.
However, what is also special: near the mill there is a 200-year-old linden tree: the Jan Leenknegt tree! One has even placed a bench near it to enjoy the spot. Flanders at its best 😉
