General information about Vredesmolen
The Peace Mill of Klerken (borough of Houthulst) is a very beautiful, openwork oil mill. Restored in a unique way. It was inaugurated in 2014 as part of the Horizon 2025 project of the Province of West Flanders. This former mill was supported by a metal frame and in the center came a spiral staircase. This allows you to safely reach the upper platform. It is accessible free of charge every day from sunrise to sunset. Wide views. You can see the Kemmelberg and the Ijzertoren.
For some people, the fact that they have worked with transparent steps and bottom structures will cause a possibly somewhat strange feeling. This especially for people with vertigo ("fear of heights"). However, the metal structures are very robust and there is basically no immediate danger 😉.
