General information about Hotondberg
What the Kemmelberg is to West Flanders, namely the highest peak, the Hotondberg is to East Flanders. It is 145 meters high. The hilly area around this mountain is also known as the Flemish Ardennes. At the top are the remains of an old mill, the Hotondmolen. This, together with the miller's house, has recently been restored. At the top of the mill hull, there is now an observation platform. This can be reached via an internal staircase (installed in the café).
The Hotondberg and the Flemish Ardennes are very well known to mountain b ikers and other cyclists. There are many so-called "calf bites" there: these are hills that demand the utmost from sportsmen.

Tip 1: Combine a visit to the Hotondberg possibly with a visit to the Ter Hengst Mill (including the 200-year-old lime tree!).
Tip 2: Order one of the many regional beers in the café in the mill trunk. Some you can also get there from the barrel. A beer straight from the barrel always has a softer taste. So ask for an "Ename," or a "Kwaremont," etc. .
