General information about De Blankaart
Beautiful nature reserve in Woumen (near Diksmuide, West Flanders). Especially known among bird watchers, cyclists (it is as flat as a billiard table) and walkers. The general public is welcomed in the Provincial Visitor Centre of "De Blankaart". It is located in a castle. It is best to walk to the back of the domain: there are the more extensive water features and many species of birds. In the spring of 2023, white-tailed eagles were even spotted there for the first time. A black swan also has her nest there. There are a number of equipped viewpoints. Make use of it.

Tip 2: When visiting a nature reserve like "De Blankaart", be sure not to forget to bring YOUR binoculars. If it has rained a lot, it can also be useful to wear good, waterproof walking shoes or even boots. There can also be quite a bit of wind: a windproof jacket can work wonders.
