Flowering wild hyacinths (Kemmelberg, Belgium)
The Kemmelberg(Hill Country near Ypres) is known for its wild hyacinths (wood hyacinths) that bloom in all their splendor every spring. So it is not at all the case that they would only be seen in the "Hallerbos". There are so many of them in spring that, by analogy with the "Black Mountain" and "'Red Mountain", one could even speak of the "Purple Mountain" at that time of year.
If you want to see this floral display, come to Kemmelberg between April 15 and May 15. You just have to have seen this. They grow right into the garden of Hostellerie Kemmelberg ****. A place to see them well as one beautiful flower meadow is where the former brasserie "the Alverman" was. Note: you can't go walking among them, everything is behind a fence. Fortunately, above the fence you can take very nice pictures.
In the lobby of Hostellerie Kemmelberg **** , there is also a very large photograph (8 meters by 2.5 meters = 20 m²) of this purple-blue floral splendor.
Tip 1: during the March/April period, Hostellerie Mont Kemmel **** maintains a web page where you can check the current status of the growth and flowering of the wild wood hyacinths on Mount Kemmel.
Tip 2: there are other places in the vicinity of Kemmelberg where wild wood hyacinths can be found. For example: Park Marguerite Yourcenar.
