General information about the source of the Leie
The source of the Leie is located in a tiny village called Liegesboort (in French, Lisbourg, Pas-de-Calais, France). This river eventually flows into the Scheldt in Ghent. On February 11, 1984, the spring suddenly burst through the street surface like a small geyser and formed a pool. It is this “little pond” that you can now go and see. The water has a blue-greenish hue. Remarkable. The water comes from the wet chalk layers beneath the village. It is referred to as an artesian well.

Tip 1: Not far from this source is the church with the twisted spire (in Verchin).
Tip 2: The region is also home to the museum on the historic Battle of Azincourt 1415.
Tip 3: If you like beautiful stained glass windows, then you can visit the remarkable and small chapel Our Lady of the Good Journey (Ecouflans, Vincly)..
