Vimy Ridge - Vimy Trenches (Vimy, France)

Many people know the big Canadian monument in Vimy. You can even see this big memorial from the terraces of Hostellerie Kemmelberg. We already visited this monument several times. But what is the case now? This monument is so impressive that you are actually distracted from other things that are in the immediate vicinity of it. Take the "Vimy Trenches" for example: they are perhaps only one kilometre from this monument, hidden in the woods. We had seen a "Trenches" plaque at the monument before but had never been there. So now we have. Well, that is worth seeing. You can see reconstructed trenches of the Germans and the Canadians around an impressive crater row.

In 2017, they even built a whole new "Vimy Ridge Visitor Education Centre". Beautiful! This centre is staffed, actually womanised, by Canadian working students who come here for a few months. Highly recommended!
