Pump Tower (Ichtegem, Belgium)
Special construction this "Pump Tower": an extra tower was placed on top of an old pumping station, which was used at the time to pump lime water to the steam trains in Ostend. You can visit and climb it for free. This gives you a beautiful view of the polders of the Bruges Ommeland. This tower came about as part of Westtoer's Horizon 2025 project.

Tip 1: you may not see, against all odds, the tower right away. This is because it is at the back of the Landscape Park "Station Well." Drive into the Spoorwegstraat as far as possible. There you will find a small parking lot. From there you can immediately go into this park. You will see a bike path, called the "Green 62," running there. Follow this to the right if you come from this parking lot. After stepping a few hundred meters, you will see the tower on the edge of this park, near the big pond.
PS: we have also forwarded the map improvement to Google Maps. Coming soon 😉
Tip #2: If you are afraid of heights you may not dare to go up to the upper observation platform. This is certainly the case in stronger winds. The fact that transparent, metal grates were used as floor and stair elements does not help either.
