General information about Reuze Feest
Every three years the three-day event "Giant Festival" takes place in Nieuwpoort. On Sunday afternoon, a giant parade takes place in which dozens of giants (more than 70) from Belgium and abroad participate. More than 750 extras help shape this folkloric spectacle.
Giants are part of Flemish Folklore. See our special page dedicated to the Flemish Giants. The last time this procession went out was in July 2025. It is waiting until 2028 now for another edition.
During the Giant Festival, you can also admire the giant "Jan Turpin." It was called "Jan Turpin" until 1925. This is the real giant among giants: it weighs no less than 750 kg, is more than 10 meters high and is propelled by no less than 24 carriers. This makes it the largest in Europe.
