General information about the Steam Train of the Bay of the Somme
How fun and original is this Bay of Somme Steam Train. Saint-Valery-sur-Somme is a medieval town located on the bay of the Somme. A steam train still runs daily between the pleasure port of this little town and Le Crotoy on the other side of the bay. Think of it as a "ferry train" rather than a "ferry boat"/"ferry". Pure nostalgia, yet still everyday life.
The large draft locomotive is changed direction by using a large turntable. The company operating the trains is called the "Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme," abbreviated as CFBS.
Sometimes the little train also goes to Cayeux-les-Bains.

Notice: the station with the steam train towards Le Crotoy is the station "Saint-Valery-Port" (address: Quai Perrée, 80230 Saint-Valery-sur-Somme). Do not confuse it with the "Saint-Valery-Ville" station, which is a little further away (address: 12 avenue du Général Leclerc, 80230 Saint-Valery-sur-Somme). From there, trains leave in the direction of Cayeux-sur-Mer.
