Irish Peace Park (Messines, Belgium)

Monument to the memory of Irish casualties in World War I. The tower was inaugurated following a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1998, by President Mary McAleese of Ireland, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and King Albert II of Belgium.

This site was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in September 2023.

Tip 1: when you are in Messines, be sure to climb the tower of St. Nicholas Church. This was made accessible in the framework of the Horizon 2025 project of the Province of West Flanders.

Tip 2: The Irish Peace Park igt right next to the "The Nest" play and picnic area. Among other things, there is a nice viewpoint.
