General information about Viewpoint "Jambon" of the Semois
Viewpoint "Jambon" of the Semois is elevated hill surrounded by a bend of the Semois (also called a meander ). There is a very nice viewpoint from where you can see it very well. It is one of the icons of the Belgian Ardennes.

Tip 1: Like all observation sites at a certain altitude, it's beware. Some three months after our visit to the "Tomb of the Giant" (another beautiful viewpoint on the Semois), in March 2024, a 47-year-old Dutchman made an unfortunate fall of no less than 40 meters while taking a photo there (see "Het Laatste Nieuws", June 2, 2024 and/or "Omroep Brabant", June 4, 2024). This despite the fact that this viewpoint is well equipped to accommodate tourists. Apparently the stones were wet and he slipped. There was no barrier at the spot where he was standing. Nothing could help: the incident thus had a fateful end.
So never go too close to a precipice: one wrong step is enough to cause a serious accident! Always try to be at least 2 when visiting such places. Your companion de route can become your last resort. "A warned man is worth two."
