General information about Hoge Blekker - Doornpanne
Hoge Blekker - Doornpanne are actually two different things. The "Hoge Blekker" is the highest dune on the Belgian Coast (with a "staggering" height of no less than... 33 meters! 😉 ) and "Doornpanne" is an adjacent nature reserve. The "Hoge Blekker" is also popularly called the "blink map": after all, the largely bare dune shines on the horizon.

Tip 1: 2 hiking trails start at the Hoger Blekker: the Ijslandvaarderswandroute and the Schipgatwandroute. See the website of the municipality of Koksijde for more information.
Tip 2: At the end of the Doornpanne is the historic hotel, now restaurant boat "The Normandie." A beautiful piece of real estate heritage, nearby. Go check it out and
Tip 3: In the adjacent "Schipgatduinen" you can still find the interesting Duinenhuis with its observatory of De Sterrenjutters. Also worth a visit and all this within walking distance.
