General information about Grevelingen
Grevelingen is known to the general public for its well-preserved Vauban fortifications and the nearby CNPE nuclear power plant. The biggest paying tourist attraction there is the Lighthouse located in Petit Fort-Philippe. There is also a Belfry. This, along with other Flemish belfries, has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another famous site is that of Shipyard Jean-Bart: there you can see how the ship of pirate Jean-Bart is reconstructed again. So all in all, Gravelines is definitely worth a visit.
The French artist Georges Seurat made a beautiful painting of the Grevelingen Canal at the time, entirely in pointillism style. Check it out on Wikipedia(FR - EN).

Tip 1: Check out our page on the Gravelines Lighthouse. Worth climbing.
Tip 2: A company visit to the CNPE nuclear power plant is also possible.
Tip 3: Forget on the outskirts of town Shipyard Jean-Bart Don't visit. Unique!
Tip 4: If you are at the lighthouse, walk further down to the beach. You will see the more than 100 blue and white beach cabins and you can walk on almost to the nuclear power plant. There is a spectacular effect of low tide: in less than an hour, the entire plain is (z)under water! See the photos below.
