General information about Dune Marchand
Dune Marchand is a beautiful 113-hectare massif of dunes located West of Bray-Dunes and East of Zuidkote. It has been part of the 23rd "Grand Site de France" since September 2025: "Les Dunes de Flandre". Created in 1974, it has also been recognized for many years now (since October 1, 1990) as a nature reserve, more precisely as a RRN (Réserve Naturelle Nationale). It is managed by the department of Le Nord. You have direct visibility and access to the sea there.
There are 2 major access points, one in Bray-Dunes and one in Zuidkote, each with their own parking. There are also two observation platforms.
By the way, did you know that the quality of the bathing water in Zuidkote, one of the few places on the entire Opal Coast, is rated "Excellent"? This according to the Regional Agency for Health (ARS). Only Grevelingen has this same rating. For the rest, you actually have to be south of the Bay of Somme (in Cayeux-sur-Mer, for example).
