The Fisherman's House (Witzand, France)
The Fisherman's House is an old fisherman's cottage. It dates from the early 1900s. Two small rooms have been refurnished as in the old days. At that time, 7 people could live there. You cannot enter the house inside, you have to view these scenes from outside through a glass wall. That is, if you can get inside the house. There is a code on the lock and you have to get it at another place. It is indicated that this would be at the "Hotel de la Plage", but that has not been the case for quite some time. You have to go get it at the Tourist Office.
There are 2 flobarts set up in front of the cottage. There was also an explanatory panel yesterday about the "School of Wissant" with examples of paintings that connected subjects to life in these fishermen's houses. There are several such panels set up in Wissant. Nice initiative.
This museum house is an initiative of the "Association Flobarts des 2 Caps" (based in Wissant). Read more about the flobarts here.
This is a noble initiative, that much is clear. But it also needs some work to make it known and truly accessible.
