General information about The Mercator
The Mercator is a beautiful training ship located in a dock right in the center of Ostend. It is a three-master designed by Adrien de Gerlach de Gomery. The museum ship, recently thoroughly renovated, can be visited and offers a nice insight of how the world was sailed in those days. It is with this ship, a hefty three-master, that Father Damien, among others, was picked up from Hawaii.
