General information about Our Lady of the Sand Church

Very tuneful church in the French seaside town of Berck. Lots of wood trim, especially many stained glass windows and room for as many as 1,500 churchgoers. Entered into service in 1886, expanded in 1927 and now almost completely renovated. Wall paintings made visible again.

Reopened December 11, 2022. One of the top, in its genre, of the region.

Tip 1: At first glance the church seems closed, but on closer inspection you will find a small door next to the large, double doors of the main entrance. You can also enter through the side of the building. Keep in mind that the church closes at 5:30 pm.

Tip 2: Because of the stained glass windows and woodwork, it is rather a "dark" church. Photographers should bring their tripod. Allow some time: the more difficult lighting conditions require a little more time to achieve great results.
