General information about Rumbeke Castle - Sterrebos
The Castle of Rumbeke is one of the oldest Renaissance castles in Belgium and still has a private residence. It is located on the edge of a forest park. In the middle of the park there is a point where no less than 12 forest paths converge: that is unique and beautiful to see! The star-shaped pattern lends it the name of the forest: the "Star Forest". It is 27 hectares in size. On Sunday mornings you can easily see a few hundred runners training there. In front of the castle, there is a very large plane tree: the circumference of the trunk is more than 5 meters! It was probably planted in the 18th century. This is when the castle was given a classicist touch and the Sterrebos was created.
