General information about Beauvoorde Castle
Beauvoorde Castle is a fine example of a moat. First occupant in 1408, restored and rebuilt in 1875. The building can be visited [again as of April 2026] (consult their web site) and features include beautiful paintings, furniture and armor. The authentic kitchen in the basement also managed to attract our special attention.
This historical site is managed by Herita asbl, Open Monuments.
The site features a museum café.

Currently you cannot visit the castle inside: works are in progress. Reopening in April 2026. So a little more patience 😉

Tip 2: Do you love Beauvoorde Castle and castles in general ? Then there is a chance that you will also like the castles route (around Bruges) will be interesting as well.
Tip 3: Do you like old books? Then you can visit the old school next to the castle: there you will find a store with 2nd hand books. The offer is incredibly large, extends over 2 floors and the prices are still on the low(er) side. To visit!
Tip 4: Climb the Saint Nicolas tower of Veurne: It is a beautiful vantage point.
