The Chapel of Saint Godelieve is a picturesque chapel with consecrated spring water. The chapel was built in 1782 and rebuilt in 1829. Saint Goedlieve ( also called "Godeleine" ) planted her spider skirt there and a spring spontaneously appeared, dixit the legend.
On July 30, 1084, Godelieve of Gistel was canonized by the bishop of Tournai, Radbod II. Every year, the first Sunday after July 6, the procession of Saint Godelieve still goes out in Gistel. This procession has been going out since 1459.

Tip: This chapel really is "in the middle of nowhere." Still, one local tip. Did you know that the very large Napoleon quarry is not that far from there? Go see the panorama point there.
