General information about Bergues
Bergues, called "Saint-Winoksbergen" in Flemish, is the town from northern France that became world famous (in France/Belgium anyway 😉 ) with the film about the Ch'tis. Also a fortified town of Vauban and UNESCO World Heritage Site with its Belfry. The belfry can be climbed again after several years of inaccessibility (4€, best is to book your ticket in advance although they will let you in as well if there are not too many people visiting the tower at that moment). On each floor there is a small exhibition: one about the carnival, one with the beautiful model of Bergues, film screenings, and so on. All these assets together make Bergues well worth a visit.
