General information about Basilica of Koekelberg
The "National Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Koekelberg," also known simply as the "Basilica of Koekelberg," is the largest art deco building in the world. A must-see! There are also many classical and modern stained glass windows to admire, an impressive dome and, icing on the cake, an observation platform from which you can watch all of Brussels: the Atomium, the Palace of Justice, and so on.

Tip 1: If you come by car, parking is provided just in front of the basilica.
Tip 2: Entrance to the basilica is free, for the observation platform you pay 8 EUR (July 2025).
Tip 3: On the observation platform there can be quite a lot of wind. Prepare your clothing for this!
Tip 4: For photographers: in principle, you are not allowed to stand right under the central dome to photograph them frontally. However: speaking kindly to one of the staff about this can make all the difference 😉.
