General information about Abdijschuur "Ter Doest"
Abbey Barn "Ter Doest" is a very old barn that belonged to Ter Doest Abbey. Renovated by the Province of West Flanders. Free to visit and still in use. Wikipedia writes about it, "The tithing barn or monastery barn dates from the end of the fourteenth century and is the only remaining abbey building. It is 50.50 m long, 23.75 m wide and the gable is 30.75 m high; the height of the side walls is 9.25 m. Two rows of 10 oak pillars each have supported the unique oak roof truss for over six centuries. Until before 1711 the barn was covered with straw, now the roof consists of 38,000 Boom tiles.".
Artworks are displayed in the immediate vicinity and there is an art gallery where you can buy artwork.

Tip 1: Lissewege is not far from Damme and Bruges. There are many beautiful things to experience. How about a visit to the Beguinage in Bruges, the Burg, etc. You may also be interested in the Castle Route in the Bruges Ommeland? Or would you just like to relax for a while in the Damse polders? You can do that in "De Grote Wateringe."
