General information about Zannekinfeesten
For people interested in the Middle Ages: the so-called "Zannekin festivals" take place annually in Rekspoede (Rexpoëde, France). Nicolaas Zannekin was a Flemish rebel leader from the 14th century.
This year they were supposed to go on for the 12th time. However, it was decided not to have these celebrations in 2025.
Whether this would resume even later is currently a mystery to us. Therefore, for now, we are using the label "Gone."
The organization is (was ?) in the hands of the Zannekin Association, which wants to highlight the Flemish history of the region through the historical Flemish hero, Nicholas Zannekin, killed at Kassel in 1328. See also "The Medieval Collective - Hallebardiers". They collaborated on this.
