Church of Our Lady (Kortrijk)

Kortrijk has much more to offer than just its Broel towers. Go take a look at the old Onze-Lieve-Vrouwkerk because it is worth it. There are two things that immediately stand out here:
1) the very beautiful, modern stained glass windows
2) the Gravenkapel.

In the Counts Chapel, audio-visual performances are presented around the Battle of the Golden Spurs. Technically particularly successful: with the help of Barco projectors animations are projected on both the ceiling and 3 walls. The beautiful glass windows are automatically closed by shutters during the performances. This makes the room virtually lightproof and allows projection on these walls. Well found! The performance lasts about 18 minutes and is free, as is admission to this Church/Museum.

Also just a quick note that a work by Anthony van Dyck ( the "Raising of the Cross") hangs there.

Tip: once you have visited the church, be sure to also visit the nearby Beguinage of St. Elizabeth. This is a UNESCO world heritage site. It would be a particular shame to miss that restored gem.
