Beauvoorde Castle (Wulveringem, Veurne, Belgium)
The castle of Beauvoorde is a fine example of a moat. First occupant in 1408, restored and rebuilt in 1875. The building can be visited (consult their web site) and there are beautiful armor on display, among other things. The authentic kitchen in the basement also managed to attract our special attention.
This historic site is managed by Herita asbl, Open Monuments.
Currently you cannot visit the castle inside: works are in progress. Reportedly, there are still works until 2026. So a little more patience 😉
Visitor numbers: 15,000 (2018).
