The largest mining museum in France. Entirely dedicated to the mining and processing of coal over the last 270 years and the lives of the miners there.
Visitor tips for the Historic Mining Center
Tip: definitely go explore an authentic terril. There are several that have been made accessible to the public. Nice example is the double terril in Loos-en-Gohelle: the highest in Europe!

Photos "underground" (photos from August 1, 2023): to avoid any misunderstandings, visitors do not really go underground, but they do enter a perfectly simulated environment. So you can be claustrophobic, that's no problem at all. You can expect perfectly normal temperatures and humidity. The air there is also fresh. So you experience a comfortable guided visit. Everything has been faithfully recreated.
