General information about Abbey Museum "Ten Duinen"
Always wanted to know what life was like in a real abbey? How people lived in the Middle Ages? What is involved in archaeological research? Then the Abbey Museum "Ten Duinen" is the place to be. This abbey was founded in the 1100s and remained active for centuries. This museum consists of 2 different parts: an indoor part which includes the actual exhibition (including a very large Lego model of the abbey) and projection room and an outdoor part where you can go in a park to see the actual ruins or play one of the old ball games. Everything was provided with 4-language explanations (even blind writing). The whole thing is wheelchair accessible. Also interesting are the virtual animations you can download. This way you can get an even better idea of what things looked like. This is a very nice addition to the remains that you can still see on site.
