General information about the Port Museum
The Port Museum is a very nice museum about maritime life in general and the port of Dunkirk in particular. Located in the port of Dunkirk near the imposing administrative building of the C.U.D. (Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque). There are very many models of ships on display, an immersive experience around the privateer and local hero "Jean Bart," paintings of maritime subjects, and so on. Some ships can also be visited. These are a maximum of 5. Sometimes there are fewer because, for example, restoration works are in progress on them. During our visit, we could effectively visit two of them: a lightship "Sandettié" (1949) and a tugboat "Entreprenant" (1965). The large three-master also recently underwent a re-make and can be visited in the meantime. This museum is also responsible for the operation of the Risban Lighthouse (which can also be visited on Sundays).

Tip 1: there are several tickets available that allow you to visit either the actual museum, the boats or the lighthouse, or all together. Ask about them.

Tip 3: Do you like shipyards? Then you can visit the Shipyard of "The Jean-Bart".
